Let's Make Your Christmas Work Party Unforgettable!
Christmas Dinner: all you need to know.
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject heading as 'Xmas Menu' to get a quick and succinct response regarding your booking. We are taking bookings of up to 90 guests.
In order to make your meal with us go both smoothly and simply on the day, we require a pre-order for all bookings under our Christmas menu.
To secure your booking you will need to leave a deposit of £10 per party member, and this can be paid over the phone or in person.
December Dates for the Diary
Ver Players Singalong
Come and join us for a Christmas singalong with Ver Players, a local Ukulele group who recently performed Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album in the Roman Theater of St Albans to commemorate its 50th anniversary. The performance is 1pm-2pm.
Once again the Pope of Sandpit Lane, Fr Richard, will be leading an evening of joyous Christmas Carol singing in the very same Octagon he blessed last April when Ye Olde Fighting Cocks reopened. Book a table for the evening to secure a good spot to raise your voice and a glass with us and get in the mood for Christmas.
Everyone has a wreath at Christmas, but not everyone makes their own... Come to the workshops on Mondays 4th and 11th and Tuesdays 5th and 12th December to curate your own natural wreath and decorate it however you like!
St Albans Mummers
The St Albans Mummers are returning this year on boxing day to perform a short traditional play about St George and the Dragon on our doorstep looking over the river Ver. Bring some layers and come to watch something you just don't see every day.
As with all Sundays in December, we will be serving food from 12pm-4pm and our glorious English tradition will fully be in play to set you up with a nice full belly in time for Santa's arrival.
We'll be serving drinks all the way to 11pm, with plenty of mulled wine to go around!
We love a cold beer by the fire on Christmas day! While we won't be serving food, the drinks will be flowing from 12pm to 2pm. Why not take a Christmas morning stroll in the park and join us for a drink to celebrate with us?
While we won't be showing the football, we will be serving our classic a la carte menu from 12pm-4pm. Make sure to book sooner rather than later, as everyone likes a cosy pub on boxing day!
New Year's Eve
We'll kick off New Year's with our beloved Sunday roasts before gearing up for an evening of live music and cheer.
The Swamp Dogs are making the roundhouse boom once again, so countdown to 12 with us before we close the bar on 2023 at 1am.
New Year's Day
Ye Olde Fighting Cocks: the oldest pub in Britain and the perfect place to spend New Year's Day with friends and family.
With our newly updated selection of delicious wines and our full range of draft beer ready to go, you won't be disappointed. We'll be serving food from 12pm until 4pm - reserve your table now so you don't miss out!
